Our focus is on people. Therefore, the Lou-i are made by hand, with great attention to detail and the highest quality in their own manufactory (Friedberg / BY).
Info wooden sign turn:
Although the umbrellas are made of real wood, by heating (eg with the help of an iron) deformations are possible and you can bend them individually.
The real wood sign is not only flexible, but also robust and durable. The special construction (3-ply) minimizes typical wooden properties such as waviness and moisture distortion (successfully tested in rain and snow). The wood is selected according to responsible criteria.
Each type of wood has its characteristic features. Each wood grain tells an interesting story. Just as no fingerprint is the same all over the world, so no wooden umbrella is like the other. That's why every Lou-i is a real one-off. Mahogany is a deciduous tree native to Central and South America. The evergreen trees can grow on average over 40m and the straight, knotless tree trunk can reach a diameter of up to 3.5m. American mahogany has been in demand for more than 450 years, initially as an ideal starting material for shipbuilding. Today, this wood is used particularly in the art and furniture joinery due to the excellent processing properties and weather resistance.
The cotton plant was cultivated by the Mayas in Mexico and the Incas in Peru more than 7000 years ago. Today, cotton is produced in over 80 countries on all six continents of the world (main producers: China, India, USA). The demanding plant needs frost-free, warm weather and plenty of sun and sufficient water to grow. Due to the good absorbency and resistance of cotton, it is the most important natural fiber in the textile and clothing industry.
